We all have dreams. That’s part of being human. Sometimes those dreams get killed by our lives or by the people we have around us. But even if your dream has been “killed”, it is still lurking around somewhere in your head. To live your Optimal Life, you need to find that dream, no matter how far it seems to be from your present state, you need to revive that dream.
That dream is what gives your life purpose. That dream is what can keep you alive. Many people can’t wait to retire because they want to do all of the things they couldn’t do while they were working for a living. The day of their retirement comes, there is a party, lot’s of hugs, congratulations, cake, and balloons. They take their personal stuff home in a box, sit down and say aaah.
They wake up the next day and feel a little lost. For 20, 30 maybe 40 years they have been going to a specific place for a specific reason – now they don’t have any place to go or be. They don’t have a goal, a purpose, an aim for their life. This sense of loss may happen on the first day of their retirement or a few months later, but for a lot of people that day will come. Unfortunately for those people, their life tends to be shorter, dull and pointless.
Having a purpose or goal can make your life richer and more satisfying. A goal or purpose can help you to get out of bed in the morning, looking forward to your day. Having a goal can improve your self-image. Purposes and goals can help you sleep better at night.
While it is easier to establish your purpose before you need it to stay alive – after you retire – it is never too late. Also, it is fine to adapt or totally change you goal or purpose. Here are some tips to finding your purpose:
